Minitube 1.5 to the rescue

A few hours ago I’ve come back from free camping on a beautiful mountain. When I logged in I found out dozens of users were complaining about Minitube not working. Here I am with a new release that fixes the problem and adds a few features. Thanks to Mike Holenderski for emailing me details about the YouTube changes that broke Minitube.

Besides watching videos again, you can now drag’n’drop YouTube links from your browser to the Minitube window. Also, Minitube is now more tolerant about which URLs are actually YouTube URLs. New translations are included thanks to the great people contributing on Transifex.

UPDATE: Minitube 1.5 has been published on the Mac App Store (11 days after its submission). Anyone who bought it there can update via the App Store

cannot install the the update minitube 1.5 and the 1.4 is jumping from video to video without playing anything.

      I’m stuck here, any ideas?

  6. Patti says:

I still only have the demo version of 1.5 on my Mac. It works well, but I have to press the “continue” button constantly. I purchased Minitube directly from your website and wonder if there is a full version fix yet available. I don’t mean to bug you, but also don’t want to miss the opportunity to get the fix as soon as possible. I have been tempted to press the “Get the full version” button, but don’t want to have to pay again, since I have only had the app for a couple of months.

Thank you for any clarification you can give me.

Patti I sent you an email

    • Sean says:

      Hi Flavio,

Same problem as Patti. I have 1.4.3 and it just scrolls through all the clips without playing anything. It worked really well on Leopard but Lion doesn’t like it.

How do I upgrade to 1.5 without having to repurchase the software?

      Cheers,

      Sean

    Hi flavio ,

Thankx a Lot this release works Perfectly. It solve all the problems of videos not starting.
    Used On OsX Leopard PPC.

My only suggestion is addding a Playlist for both Keyword & Channels and the support of 480p.

  9. Patti says:

Thank you Flavio! The app is now working perfectly. It is my most used app on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I would really love it even more if you came up with the same app that would work on my iPad 2. If you do, please let me know because I would buy it immediately.

Thank you again for a great product and very quick responses.

  10. Robert says:

How typical that YouTube broke Minitube 1.4.3 a week after my year of free updates expired. I guess you earned yourself NOK 70 (-taxes and Apple’s cut) whenever the App Store version gets back online, as I imagine it will have free updates forever.

    • Flavio says:

Hi Robert, I’m sorry about the bad timing. There are automatic scripts in place to expire licenses. Are you asking for a free renewal? Just ask.

    • Robert says:

      Hi Flavio!

No, I’m sorry if I sounded grumpy, I can see that it came through that way, although it was not the intention. I just started using it on my Mac again (or rather, using my Mac again as I had been using it on Linux for quite some time), and then just some few days later it died off.

I’ll purchase the app again from the App Store when it comes through. It’s really awesome and well worth its money. I was just so happy that it was fixed and then had the anticlimax of my license having expired. If you have the possibility to do so, it would be awesome to send a mail to the users the license is about to expire for, warning them about it.

Hoping Apple will approve the updated app in their App Store soon!

      Cheers,

      Robert

  23. Xelloss says:

Source works great on Ubuntu 10.10 64bits.

The major downside I see is the inability to sort video from the eldest and to get playlist from Youtube users.

    Very nice programm,
is it possible to make a port for android?

  27. Salvo says:

  28. Salvo says:

…sorry… mancava questa dipendenza “phonon-backend-gstreamer”. Funziona benissimo.

    Grazie Flavio ;)
