Bug fixes for Minitube & Musictube

Just a quick note to announce the release of Minitube 2.1.6 and Musictube 1.2.7. Both include a fix for the playback of some YouTube videos. A minor change in Minitube’s Browse tab removes some so-called standard feeds like Most Shared, etc. As always updated translations are included thanks to the wonderful translators at Transifex.

    Dear Flavio,
I recently discovered minitube on my Lubuntu machine and find it rather wonderful!
Also now found a Windows version but in the windows version of your program I am missing the option to download youtube video streams which works beautifully in the linux version.
    Is it me or what??

Thank you for your fine work!

    Best regards,
    Denis Loos.

Can you add a repeat button and an A->B repeat feature to minitube? That would be really useful. The repeat shouldn’t be very complicated so please add it :)

    Hi Minitube team,

I have been a long time follower of this app, I have used almost every released version of this app. I recently moved to Ubuntu 14.04 from 12.04 and minitube just keeps on crashing. I am aware ubuntu 14.04 does not ship with gstreamer and i have installed it, but to no success. Please keep me updated if possible.

    Cheers,
    Robin

Exactly the same for me, minitube is crashing under 14.04 LTS, I installed it on a new system
but the result is the same, simply does not work under 14.04. There is a long list of errors but where to send it for checking?

      Cheers

Hi Minitube Team !, I love Minitube as when it works it works sweet. However there comes a time when it just hung or quit mid playing a file. Can something be done ?

  7. Jerry says:

    Dear Flavio,

using Minitube under Ubuntu 13.10 was a splendid experiency. Unfortunately under upgrade to 14.04 minitube stopped working properly. It starts but a mouse move causes the crash of minitube and nothing could be played through it.
Would you be so kind and have a look on this problem? I would be much grateful to you because minitube is an excellent tool.
    Regards

I have just discovered that something must be missing in 14.04 LTS because some (just few) videos are playable in Minitube while most of others cause crashing. Maybe some codec or so.
Could you Flavio tell us which codecs or library are necessary for the flawless function of Minitube?
      Cheers
      Jerry

    • Flavio says:

Everything works fine for me on 14.04. Make sure you’re using “minitube-ubuntu” from the Software Center.

My music tube app is not responding is it me or is it the app?

  9. Everett says:

I just installed Linux Mint 17 MATE RC x64 and I can confirm that there is in fact a problem with minitube on 14.04 based distros. Seconds after I start minitube it crashes. I would like some help with this matter.

I have the same issue on Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 64bit. I tried your solution here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=169984#p873660 and removed “phonon-backend-gstreamer” but Minitube started to skip long videos too fast without playing them but short ones play fine. besides this plugin is needed by other applications like “Great Little Radio Player”

Please give us a solution i rely on Minitube in many issues specially at university.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Those with Linux Mint 17 who are having problems with minitube crashing need to put this into terminal —

    $ sudo apt-get install phonon-backend-vlc

    – Then close terminal.

works with LM 17 mate & xfce.

After I ran this command, Minitube actually played most of a video before exploding and spraying me with all manner of digital goo… This thing is hopeless.

Maybe that is part of its appeal….

Good work. After writing a noblank script to stop screen dimming, all issues with Minitube are addressed and it’s now quite enjoyable. An excellent way to experience Youtube. Integration with the host should include all subscriptions, Minitube and Youtube.

Minitube version 2.2 is not compatible with Audials moviebox version 11.0.544
Audials moviebox version 11.0.544 was fully functional with the previous version of Minitube.
I hope this problem will be resolved in the future as Minitube and Audials moviebox were the perfect pair!

Love this app! Migrated from Ubuntu Stable to OpenSuse 13.2. Had trouble with Install but got it going. The bug that I have is that when I run Minitube it doesn’t move on to the next video but loops the first entry repeatedly. Using keyboard command will play next video (Ctrl-Right arrow key). Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
