Minitube 1.7 released
Happy new year everybody! Just in time for the Befana, I’m releasing Minitube 1.7. Put it on USB sticks together with candy inside colored socks for the little ones!
This release features clickable usernames in the playlist, so you can start watching the video author’s channel with a click.
Another much requested feature is a “Manually start playing” option. It allows you to pick the right video before starting playback and to try other searches without interrupting the current video.
Especially for the Mac, I worked on enhancing the visual style to be more pleasant and feel more native. Now the app doesn’t quit on window close and minimizes on Command+M. The seek bar and volume slider sport a new style and the search box is the rounded, native one.
The “Stop after this video” option can be useful in many situations, I use it with my kid so I can pretend that the cartoons are over.
Other minor enhancements include a window “Float on Top” option and the ability to skip to the previous video (with keyboard shortcut).

1.7 version has a bug video is not displayed correctly for me ( don’t know why. Half size and I cannot change the size of it… Please fix

Thank you so much for the update. This is my most favorite application, and I use it every day. I really like being able to put in a channel and see all the videos. I haven’t installed Lion yet, but the Full Screen view works just fine with the upgrade. Thanks again.

Oh, btw, if anyone is having a streched, bugged or somewhat strange video (zoomed in or misplaced), then do this:
Windows Vista, 7:
a) Right click on the Minitube.exe and properties.
b) Select compatability mode.
c) Select the mode to deactivate scaling on high DPI.
d) Save and close.
e) Relaunch Minitube. Done.
Info: Since I usually have a high DPI size of 120 DPI (I have a huge screen), this option fixes all the issues I had with Minitube 1.7 and video.

I’d love to see back option of scaling video in basic mode by resizing playlist horizontally. It was available two or three versions ago :) Now resizing playlist is very limited (1024×768 screen resolution).
Nothing changed in playlist/video resizing. What’s your problem?
Well, in basic view (not compact, not fullscreen) I can resize (in this case – make thinner) the playlist only to some level, when all buttons (most relevant, last seen and most popular buttons) reach some minimal level, in my case it is ~182 px.

first of all, it’s a very nice program and thank you for it. Second i want to report some “issues” i want to share with you i recordnized with git and 1.7 source tarball.
OS: Linux archbox 3.1.8-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT / 64Bit
QT: 4.8
1.) Issue : i can’t start playback with a mouseclick (need to select and press Enter) on the video anymore
2.) Issue : i if you use load another 10 items of a list and than resort the list to get episodes together , you can get the same video 2 times in the list. The first you will find it on the position you sorted it in. The second you will find it on the position which it is original in the result of youtube.
If i also might at a feature request it would be to be able to browse / add playlist of a specific user. This would be so awesome for watching Let’s plays …
There’s a forum for this kind of reports. Qt 4.8 is not really tested so the bug you see are probably related to that. The feature you’re asking for is already there.
Hi had problem with 1.7 update on windows 7 but now fixed it by
a) Right click on the Minitube.exe and properties.

The compilation on Ubuntu 11.10 64bits worked without problems.
The “Find video parts” doesn’t work most of the time. So, same problem than 1.5 and 1.6 : we need to be able to sort from the oldest to the newest video.
In my tests, “Find video parts” works most of the times. Sometimes a manual reordering is needed. I don’t see what “oldest to newest” is and has to do with it.

Simple. One can currently sort the videos from the newest to the oldest. But not the reverse.
When you look for a multi-part video, the title will be mostly the same, so you can find all the parts by searching for the common part of the title : the first parts will be oldest, the latest will be newest. Being able to sort from the oldest to the newest will then allow to look the parts in the right order – which is expecially useful in a 20+ parts video.
Why is the version still with the old german translation?

Hi, I guess the translation came too late. I had already build version 1.7. It was days before the announcement on this site, because I fisrt submit to the Mac App Store and wait for approval. Anyway thanks for your work, it will be in the next release.
hy i wrote yesterday i think but i don’t remember in what forum :). Anyway my minitube changes the video by itself during the playing of those. So like after 30-40 seconds of playing it goes to the next. Sometimes in skip like 1 minute before the end of the video. I ve tried to put “manuale selection” but it doesn’t change anything. Could u help me? i m using ubuntu 11.10 withe gnome shell 3.2.1. Thanks! see ya

I’d like to request a feature – show only videos of a defined length (could add support for all YouTube tags ).
I tend to watch documentary films on YouTube and the first results returned without any filter are movies in several parts, BUT when I add “show videos longer than 20 minutes” I find videos with over an hour’s length and the movie in one single part.
This way, I can watch the video uninterrupted on YouTube or MiniTube without the need to manually click on another part every 15 minutes.

Problem with Minitube v.1.7 after installation on new install of Ubuntu 11.10 via:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install Minitube
Can hear the music from video accessed but have -no- video feed visible.
Dependencies were checked per the guidelines.
(sudo apt-get install libqtgui4 libqt4-xml libqt4-network libqt4-dbus phonon-backend-gstreamer gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad)
Response was: already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
with the exception of:
“phonon-backend-gstreamer set to manually installed.”
Any suggestions?
Hi there, please consider implementing filters. For example, I only watch videos with closed captions, and would really appreciate the ability to set this as a saved filter so it is applied by default for every search. Similarly, others would appreciate being able to filter by audio language or by the video length.
