Minitube 1.6 released

I’m happy to announce that Minitube reached version 1.6! These are the changes:

  • Find the missing parts of a video
  • Mac OS X Lion full-screen mode
  • Share a video using Facebook, Twitter or email
  • Fixed bug with very short videos not playing
  • Fixed a (rather paranoid) security issue with temporary files and made sure temp files are always deleted
  • Dropped Mac OS X PowerPC support. Apple has made it really hard to support PPC on Lion. PPC users can keep using version 1.5

First off just let me say I love Minitube it’s awesome!
I installed minitube 1.6 but it is not working on xubuntu 10.04 .
Is anyone else having this problem? This problem started with minitube 1.5 a few days ago after an automatic update and continues with the new version of minitunes.
    Grrrrrr.

    • Flavio says:

You have to build by yourself on 10.4. The build is not compatible for some reason. Although it should be. Something must have changed in the linker or compiler that made Qt libraries incompatible.

  2. B Johnson says:

I meant to say continues with the new version of minitube sorry.

  3. Origin says:

    Hello,

I wanted to test Minitube, but it seems that the download function is not working, the application is crashing as soon as I clic on the download button :/

    Annoying…
    Thanks for your help

    • Flavio says:

There is a forum for this kind of problems. Anyway you should at least tell us the OS and version you’re using.

    Will AirPlay be coming soon?

I’ve used minitube 1.5 for a couple of month and I was pretty amazied with it. Yesterday I’ve purchased full version of minitube and downloaded 1.6 update in order to test it. I’ve find out that new version don’t support alt+enter fullscreen keystroke anymore, and the only way to get full screen is to press F11, whats *really* disappointing for me. Please implement this feature in the upcoming updates, it really comes in handy while using small netbook keyboards, like asus eee pc 701. Thanks in advance, keep on codin’ :)

Hi Flavio. I love using Minitube everyday. I am running Mac OS 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. I have not upgraded to Lion yet because there are some of my programs that do not yet support Lion. I am not sure from your post if I should upgrade to Minitube 1.6. Thank you for your help. Keep up the great work. Any chance you will come out with a version for the iPad 2?

    • Flavio says:

You can use Minitube 1.6 on Snow Leopard (10.6) without any problem. You’ll just miss out on the new cool full-screen mode. No iPad version in sight for now.

    ciao ottima app!!
è possibile riprodurre playlist create in youtube?

    grazie ciao

Any chance we’ll be able to watch our subscriptions from MiniTube?

  10. Lukas says:

    Nice, good job!
But Minitube still pauses for a second or two just a couple seconds into the video. That happens for at least since 1.5 (don’t remember if that was the case before). The output of Minitube on the console simply “paused” as that happens…
It’s not a disaster (the video is still being played), but it’s quite annoying…

My system: Arch Linux 64Bit (same on Arch 32Bit)

  11. Alex says:

    I just purchased Minitube too!

First of all: Thanks for supporting OSX, Windows and Linux all at once. Nice to see some ppl actually care about other platforms.

Second: I’ll be using this on my Netbook, because even though it can handle Adobes Flash just fine, it’s still very slow and unreliable, when browsing Tube or anything else.

So, thanks and keep up the good work! Looking forward to future updates.

  12. Alex says:

PS: Btw, working nice in Windows 7 64bit! Sometimes fullscreen won’t work as expected (some videos tend to not go full-fullscreen – leaving you a mix of the Desktop and the Video), but everything else works fine.

  13. eMcE says:

    Ok.. 1.6 works great!

One thing that miss now is “login option” to my Youtube account and support for my playlists from YT.
If You add this in next release, then app will be great!

    Thnx for Your work!
    Regards from Poland :)

  14. Xelloss says:

The compilation on Ubuntu 11.10 64bits worked without problems.

Minitube 1.6 has the same problem than 1.5 : you can only sort video from the more recent to the oldest. That means that you can’t sort multi-part videos automatically.

An other thing missing (but less urgent than being able to sort from oldest to newest) is to be able to read playlists.

Let’s hope it will be fixed in the next version.

  15. Dedas says:

Yes, a playlist playing option would be awesome. Also that minitube plays the videos in the right order from bottom to top (first episode to last, latest). Thank you for the great work!

  16. BostonPeng says:

Will you be adding the ability to get YouTube captions and/or annotations? There are some videos on YouTube that are best with the annotations. Or is it something I haven’t seen yet in the current version?

Running LMDE Sid with KDE 4.7.2.
